COWLING – FATALLY GASSED

News has been received by Mr. Thomas Stow, farmer, Springhead, Glusburn, that Private H. E. Watson, late of Lane Ends, Cowling, has been fatally gassed in France. He passed away on October 11th, and was laid to rest in the British Military Cemetery at Doignt. Deceased was 39 years of age, and previous to joining the Army two and a half years ago, he worked for Mr. Stow.

Glusburn Labourer Fatally Gassed

Mr. Thomas Stow, farmer, of Springhead, Glusburn, has received notification that a former labourer of his, Pte. H.E. Watson, was gassed on Oct. 11th, whilst fighting in France. His injury proved fatal, and he was buried in the British Military Cemetery at Doight [Doingt]. Pte. Watson was 39 years of age, and joined the army 2½ years ago.
