FORMER SKIPTON SOLDIER DIES FROM PNEUMONIA

We learn with regret that Lance Corporal James Bright, Duke of Wellington's Regiment, a son of the late James and Eliza Bright, formerly of Skipton, died in France on July 8th last from pneumonia. He leaves a widow and three children at 82 Carmen Street, Ardwick, Manchester, who received the painful news on the 27th inst. The deceased, who had served through the South African War in the same regiment, was 36 years of age, and one of five brothers who have been serving in the Army since Christmas 1914. The five brothers are old scholars of Mr. Alfred Hartley, ex-headmaster of the National Schools, Skipton, and their names are:- Driver G. A. Bright, R.F.A.; Sergeant W. Bright, R.F.A.; Gunner R. Bright, R.F.A.; Gunner J. W. Bright, R.F.A. We extend our sympathy to the widow and family.

Death of Lance-Corpl. J. Bright

News has been received that Lance-Corpl. James Bright, of the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Bright, formerly of Skipton, and husband of Mrs. Bright, of 82, Carmen Street, Ardwick, Manchester, died from pneumonia in hospital in France on June 8th. Lance-Corpl. Bright, who enlisted soon after the outbreak of hostilities, also served through the South African campaign. He leaves a widow and three children. He was 36 years of age. There are four other brothers serving, and they were all old Scholars at the Skipton National School under Mr. A Hartley.
