CATLOW - November 24th 1917, died of wounds received in action in France, Gunner James Catlow, Siege Battery, R.G.A., only son of Mrs. Catlow, 148 Keighley Road, Cowling.

COWLING - GUNNER JAMES CATLOW DIES FROM WOUNDS

Mrs. Catlow, 148, Keighley Road, Cowling, has received notification that her only son, Gunner James Catlow, Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, has been killed in France, after having left England only about a fortnight previous. In a letter the Commanding Officer, Major Laird Bristow, after expressing his deepest sympathy with the mother, said that Gunner Catlow was struck by a piece of shell which burst over the battery while he was working his gun on November 23rd last. When he was taken to the dressing station he did not seem serious, but died the following day, the injuries being internal. He was buried in the Bailbeue Cemetery. Pte. Catlow joined the Forces in June last, going out to France last month.

COWLING - KILLED IN ACTION

Mrs. Catlow, 148, Keighley Road, Cowling, has received notification that her only son, Gunner James Catlow, of the Royal Garrison Artillery, has been killed in France, after having left England only about a fortnight previous.

The commanding officer, Major Laird Bristow, in a letter, after expressing his deepest sympathy with the mother, said that Gunner Catlow was struck by a piece of shell, which burst over the battery while he was working on his gun on Nov. 23rd last. When he was taken to the dressing station the wounds did not seem serious, but he died the following day, the injuries being internal. Pte. Catlow joined the forces in June last, going out to France last month.
