James Lister (born 5 February 1888) was the son of James and Emma Louisa Lister, née Rookes. James, senior, was born at Addingham and Emma at Ilkley, Yorkshire. James, junior, was the cousin of Private Tom Foster (266657) (q.v.).

James was married to Mary Susannah McGuire in 1908.

ADDINGHAM – MORE SAD NEWS

Mr. James Lister, High Mill, received news that his second son, Pte. James Lister, Yorkshire Regiment, has been killed. He enlisted in 1903 and was on Reserve when war broke out. His time expired but he joined up again. He had been wounded three times. He leaves a widow and four children.

We reproduce a photograph of Pte. James Lister, of the Yorkshire Regiment, son of Mr. James Lister, High Mill, Addingham, whose death in France was recorded in our issue of May 4th. A time-expired man, he joined up again when war broke out, and had been wounded three times. He leaves a widow and four children.
