Sergeant J. Gregson, Skipton

We regret to record that Sergeant J. Gregson, Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, a well-known Skipton soldier, died of wounds in Lichfield Military Hospital on May 15th, the funeral taking place at Wrexham Cemetery on May 20th. He was 38 years of age and leaves a widow and two children. Sergt. Gregson, who is a brother of Mrs. Alf Sedgwick, 11 Castle Street, Skipton, enlisted in the early months of the war and had seen much fighting.

GREGSON – In ever loving memory of a dearly loved brother, Sergeant J. Gregson, 1/6th Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, who died of wounds in Lichfield Hospital, May 15th.

Just when his hopes were brightest,
Just when his thoughts were best;
He was called from this world of sorrow
To a home of eternal rest.

Skipton Sergeant Dies of Wounds

Sergt. J. Gregson. Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regiment, brother of Mrs. Alfred Sedgwick, 11, Castle Street, Skipton, died of wounds at Litchfield Military Hospital on May 15th, and was buried in Wrexham Cemetery on May 20th. He leaves a widow and two children. Sergt. Gregson enlisted in the early part of the war.
