Letters from the Front

Private J. Fothergill, 8th Batt. Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, writes: “I received parcel, and I thank you for sending me such a nice present. I did not expect anything like that from Halifax. It is one of the finest parcels anyone could have sent out here, and I will not forget you all.”

Pte. J. W. (Jack) FOTHERGILL (27), W.R.R., only son of Mrs. Fothergill, 4, Lincoln-street, Halifax, was killed on May 7. He was well known in district football, having played with Belle Vue and Mixenden. Employed by Lee & Co., tailors, his name is on the roll of honour at Pellon-lane Baptist Church.
