Joseph Thomas Robinson was the son of Elizabeth Ann (Hannah) Robinson (born Billingborough, Lincolnshire), the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Robinson.

1891 Sleaford, Lincolnshire Census: 10, Leicester Street - Thomas [sic] Robinson, aged 2 years, born Sleaford, nephew of Thomas and Elizabeth Robinson. [In 1871 Thomas, Elizabeth and their daughter Elizabeth Ann Robinson were living at Leasingham, Lincolnshire. In the 1891 Elland, Yorkshire Census, Elizabeth H. Robinson gives her place of birth as Leasingham; she married Joseph Midgley at Halifax, Yorkshire on the 23 December 1891.]

1901 Oakworth, Yorkshire Census: Slack Farm - Joseph Thos Midgley, aged 13 years, born Sleaford, Lincolnshire, son of Joseph [stepfather] and Elizabeth Hannah Midgley.

1911 Oakworth, Yorkshire Census: Slack Lane Farm - Joseph Thomas Robinson, aged 23, born Sleaford, Lincolnshire, son of Joseph [stepfather] and Elizabeth Hannah Midgley.

Joseph's last New Zealand address before embarkation on the 13 November 1915 was 24, Munro Street, Napier. (Information from the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph Record).

Joseph is commemorated on the Oakworth War Memorial as Joseph T. Midgley; his half-brother, Frank Midgley (killed in action, 7 October 1916), is also commemorated on the memorial. They are also commemorated on Slack Lane Baptist Church War Memorial, Oakworth.

SILSDEN MAN’S BROTHER DIES OF WOUNDS

The death has occurred at a hospital in France of Pte. John T. Midgley, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Midgley, of Slack Farm, Oakworth, and brother of Mr. J. Midgley, of North Street, Silsden. The deceased emigrated to New Zealand about three years ago, and there joined a Colonial contingent.
