Richard Henry Foxcroft was the son of William and Charlotte Foxcroft, née Tattersall. Both parents were born at Newchurch, Lancashire.

1881 Skipton, Yorkshire Census: 17, Rowland Street - Richard Hy Foxcroft, aged 9 years, born Higher Booth, Lancashire, son of Charlotte Foxcroft (married).

1891 Kelbrook, Yorkshire Census: Vicarage Road - Richard H. Foxcroft, aged 19 years, born Forest Holme, Water, Lancashire, son of William and Charlotte Foxcroft.

Richard Henry Foxcroft was married to Emily Townsend at Kelbrook Parish Church, 16 April 1892. He was the uncle, through marriage, of Rifleman Lewis Varley (45211) (q.v.).

1901 Earby, Yorkshire Census: 14, Water Street - Richard Foxcroft, aged 29 years, born Water, Lancashire, husband of Emily Foxcroft.

1911 Earby, Yorkshire Census: 6, Lincoln Road - Richard Henry Foxcroft, aged 39 years, born Water, Lancashire, husband of Emily Foxcroft.

The British Army Service Record for Richard Henry Foxcroft exists but may be incomplete.

Richard enlisted in the Army 2 July 1918 and discharged 24 January 1919; he did not serve abroad.

UK, WW1 Pension Ledgers and Index Cards, 1914-1923: Pte Richard Henry Foxcroft, 155180, R.A.M.C. Year of Birth:1873. Date of Discharge: 24.1.19. Date and cause of death: 24.1.20. ? (Award under Dispensary Warrant). Address: 11, Lincoln Road, Earby, Colne. Name(s) on card(s): Widow: Emily (Mrs). Address: 14, Lincoln Road, Earby, West Riding. [Richard died of lingual carcinoma.]

The 1921 Census shows that Emily, daughter Elaine, son Irving, his wife Sarah and their two children, Lewis and Norah were living at 14, Lincoln Road, Earby. The 1939 Register shows that Emily was living with her daughter Elaine and her husband Tom Nuttall at School Fields Bungalow, Earby. Emily died in 1959.
