Thomas Christopher Blamire (born 22 July 1891) was the son of William Henry and Margaret Agnes Blamire, née Burns. William was born at Selside and Margaret at Underbarrow, Westmorland. When Thomas was baptized at Whitewell on the 27 September 1891 the family's abode was given as Laund Cottages.

SUCCUMBED TO WOUNDS

BURNLEY SOLDIER'S DEATH IN CLEARING HOSPITAL

Lance-Corporal Thos. Christopher Blamire, 1st East Lancashire Regiment, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Blamire, 4, Gorple-street, Harle Syke, died of wounds on Thursday, July 13th. He enlisted on February 4th, 1915. He was 24 years of age. Before enlisting he was a weaver at the Queen-street Mill. He attended Canaan United Methodist Church, Harle Syke.

The death has occurred at a French hospital. The only light that has been thrown on the occurrence was contained in a letter from a transport man, who saw Lance-Corpl. Blamire lying on a stretcher after he was wounded.
