ROLL OF HONOUR – Lieutenant T. F. H. Torney

The sad news has been received of the death in action on the 3rd inst. of Lieutenant T. F. H. Torney (Tommy), only son of Captain Hastings, R.A.M.C., and Mrs. Torney, of Cambridge, near Cardiff. Lieutenant Torney, who was educated at Cheltenham College, was a grandson of the late Mr. John Woodrow, of Keighley, and nephew of Mrs. Sam H. Walton, of Skipton. He received his commission on his 19th birthday; was with the 3rd Welsh Regiment, attached to the 13th; and had been out in the fighting zone over two years. The deceased was a fine, manly type of the young British officer, and his untimely end is deeply regretted by many friends whose deep sympathy is extended to the bereaved parents and relatives.
