Thomas Higson Percy was the son of James and Matilda Percy, née Higson. James was born at Annan, Dumfriesshire and Matilda at Giggleswick, Yorkshire. Thomas was the uncle of Lance Corporal Archibald Douglas Percy (38863) (q.v.) and Lance Bombardier George Hardy Percy, 1087847, 84th Anti-Tank Regiment Royal Artillery who lost his life in the Second World War. He died of wounds on 24 October 1942.

1901 Giggleswick, Yorkshire Census: 2, Armistead House - Thomas Percy, aged 7 years, born Giggleswick, son of James Percy (married).

1911 Giggleswick, Yorkshire Census: Tems Street - Thomas Higson Percy, aged 17 years, born Giggleswick, son of James Percy (married).

Thomas was married to Lily Clark in 1914.

The British Army Service Record for Thomas Higson Percy exists but may be incomplete.

When Thomas died his Battalion belonged to the West Riding Division; the Division did not receive its numerical designation until May 1915.

LANGCLIFFE

Funeral of Territorial. The funeral of Mr. Thomas Piercy took place at Langcliffe last Saturday. The deceased, who has been with the 6th Battalion West Riding Regiment now stationed at Doncaster since they were called up, had been sent home to undergo an operation. He went to the Bradford Royal Infirmary, but died during the operation. The pall-bearers were eight men from the 6th Battalion West Riding Regiment who were on leave, and the coffin was covered with the Union Jack on which were placed the deceased’s cap and belt. The service was taken by the Vicar, the Rev. F. Barham Foster. The deceased leaves a widow and one child.
