‘Clitheroe Advertiser’ (15 February 1918)

(Kindly supplied by Shirley Penman of Clitheroe and Dorothy Falshaw of Gisburn)

Pte. Musgrove, L.N.L. Regt., reached his home last week-end, this being his second leave within a few months, granted for gallant conduct in cutting a way through the enemy wire to permit of the passage of a bombing party. The latter, by the way, was, according to Pte. Musgrove, led by Lieut. Gordon Barrett who displayed his qualities by killing several Germans and taking a number of prisoners.

‘Clitheroe Advertiser’ (28 June 1918)

(Kindly supplied by Shirley Penman of Clitheroe and Dorothy Falshaw of Gisburn)

The parents of Private Tom Musgrove, L.N.L., who live in Salford, are apprehensive as to his fate, a notice having been received to the effect that he has been missing since the 22nd March. One of his letters, however, is dated the 9th April, and hopes are entertained that a mistake has been made. Pte. Musgrove was one of those who took part in the daring exploit which won for the late Lieut. Gordon Barrett the Military Cross.
