SUTTON

A SOLDIER’S DEATH FROM WOUNDS

Official notification has been received of the death in France, from wounds, of Private Victor Tuck, formerly of Sutton Mill. Private Tuck joined the West Riding Regiment about two years ago, and was so keen to be a soldier that he walked all the way to Bradford to enlist, and then forward from Bradford to Leeds. A letter was received from Fred Simpson, of Sutton Mill, who was called up as a reservist of the West Riding Regiment when war was declared, states that he was with Private Tuck helping a wounded German soldier when Tuck was wounded and taken to hospital, and he had not heard anything more of him until he received a letter from home stating that he was dead.
