PORTRAITS OF BRADFORD AND DISTRICT PATRIOTS

“HE DID NOT SUFFER”

Private Wilfred Dixon

News has been received of the death of Private Wilfred Dixon, of the West Yorkshire Regiment, only son of Mrs. Dixon, of 17, Daisy Street, Great Horton, Bradford. Private Dixon, before joining the “Pals,” was a tailor in the employment of Stansfield and Co., Ltd. He died from his wounds without regaining consciousness. “I trust,” says the Rev. H. B. W. Denison (chaplain to the Forces) in a letter to the soldier’s mother, “that it will afford you some consolation to know that he did not suffer. May he rest in peace, and may God give you courage and consolation in your sad bereavement.” Private Dixon was 25 years of age.
