Harry Stoils Lumby (born 1 December 1897) was the son of John Leeming and Jane Stoils Lumby, née Fleming. Both parents were born at Skipton, Yorkshire.

CRAVEN AND THE WAR

Rifleman H. S. Lumby, West Yorkshire Regt., is reported wounded and missing since 9th October. He is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Lumby, of Leeds, and formerly of Skipton. He is only 19 years of age, having joined up when he was 17, viz., in 1915, along with two other brothers who are also in France. He had been in France nineteen months and should have started his leave the very day he was missing. Rifleman Lumby was employed, before enlisting, in the office of Messrs. Beevers and Adgie, chartered accountants, Leeds.

CRAVEN AND THE WAR

Rifleman H. S. Lumby, West Yorkshire Regiment, reported wounded and missing since the 9th October, is now officially stated to have been killed in action or died of wounds. He was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Lumby of Leeds, formerly of Skipton-in-Craven. He was only 19 years of age, having joined up when he was 17, viz., in 1915, along with two other brothers who are also in France. He had been in France 19 months, and should have started his leave the very day he was missing. Rifleman Lumby was employed, before enlisting, in the office of Messrs. Beevers and Adgie, Chartered Accountants, Leeds, after having had a successful scholastic career. A quiet, retiring boy, he had many friends who have always admired the keenness he displayed to serve his country when yet so young.

CRAVEN AND THE WAR – WOUNDED AND MISSING

Private George Lumby is reported missing. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Lumby, Leeds, and grandson of the late Mr. George Fleming, of Skipton. A younger brother, Rifleman Harry Lumby, was killed in action some weeks ago, and another brother is in France.
