BURTON-IN-LONSDALE

Lance-Corporal Robert Dawson, King’s Own Lancaster Regiment, of Burton-in-Lonsdale, is officially reported missing since May 2nd. He enlisted at the recruiting meeting held in the village in December, 1914, and was drafted out to France in May 1915. In the meantime he has been wounded three times, and his brother John has been killed in France.

BURTON-IN-LONSDALE – Killed in Action

Official notification was received on Thursday last that Lance Corporal Robert Dawson, K.O.R L., who had previously been reported missing, was killed in action in France on May 2nd. Prior to the war he was employed at the Ingleton Colliery, and enlisted at the recruiting meeting held at Burton in December 1914. He was drafted to France in May 1915 and was wounded four times. His brother John was killed in France, and another brother has been incapacitated and discharged from the Army.
