Thomas Core was the son of Joseph Edward and Elizabeth Core, née Moorby and brother of Private Arthur Core (28746) (q.v.). Both of their parents were born at Skipton, Yorkshire.

PRIVATE HUDSON CLOUGH

Official news has also been received of the death in action on April 23rd of Pte. Hudson Clough, Northumberland Fusiliers, whose wife lives at 25, Dawson Street, Skipton. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Hudson Clough, 28, Westmorland Street, Skipton, deceased was 33 years of age, and enlisted in June last and went to France in November. He was previously a shop assistant for Mr. Wm. Price, Belmont Bridge, Skipton, and was a member of the Skipton Conservative Club and a well-known billiards player. His brother, Pte. Albert Clough, is serving with the West Yorkshire Regiment, and has been twice wounded. In a letter of sympathy to the bereaved wife, Pte. T. Core, of Skipton, and a pal of deceased, says:– “I shall never forget St. George’s Day (April 23rd), the day I lost my pal.”

CRAVEN AND THE WAR

WOUNDED AND MISSING

Private Tom Core, Northumberland Fusiliers, husband of Mrs. Core, 52 Castle Street, Skipton, and son of Mr. J. E. Core, Queen Street, Skipton, has been missing since March 21st. A brother, Private Arthur Core, was killed on May 3rd, 1917.

MISSING FOURTEEN MONTHS: NOW PRESUMED KILLED – Private Thomas Core, Skipton

Private Thomas Core, 25th Northumberland Fusiliers, son of Mr. J. E. Core, Spring Gardens, Skipton, whose photograph we reproduce, is a Skipton soldier who has been missing since March 21st, 1918, and who is now officially presumed to have given his life for the great cause on that date. Thirty-four years of age, and formerly employed at Messrs. Wilkinson’s, Park Shed, Private Core joined up on June 13th, 1916, and went to France on November 29th of the same year. We extend our sympathy to the widow, who lives at 51 Castle Street, Skipton. A brother, Private Arthur Core, was killed early in 1917.
