2nd Bn. Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment)

From assembly trenches east of the sugar factory on Mailly-Maillet-Serre Road moved forward 8.55 a.m. (1/7) in support of attack between Beaumont-Hamel and Serre. Advancing on Brigade’s left fought through into The Quadrilateral – by nightfall holding Burrow, Wolf and Legend Trenches. Casualties – 323.

[Thomas Frederick Theodore was killed in this action on the 1st July 1916.]

BARNOLDSWICK MEN MISSING

Pte. Wm. Boocock, 9th Duke of Wellington’s, whose wife resides at Montrose Terrace, Barnoldswick, has been officially reported missing since July 1st.

Pte. Thos. Fredk. Theodore, 2nd Duke of Wellington’s, eldest son of Mr. F. Theodore, 1, Manchester Road, has also been reported missing since the same date. He went out last September.

Pte. Thos. Frederick Theodore, 2nd Duke of Wellington’s, eldest son of Mr. F. Theodore, 1, Manchester Road, has been missing since the same date. He went out last September.
