Robert Hodgson was the son of George and Susannah Hodgson, née Ellison and brother of Private John Hodgson (29749) ‘B’ Coy 10th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers who was killed in action, 25 August 1918. Their father was born at Gisburn Forest and mother at Clapham, Yorkshire. Susannah’s mother, Jane Ellison, married Robert Chamley. Robert and John were cousins of: Private Percy Hodgson (13771) (q.v.); Private Tom Hodgson (26671] (q.v.); Private Thomas Hodgson (32388) (q.v.) and Private Rowland Robinson (235477) (q.v.).
